Bengaluru - The IT city of India has been recording some really good spells of rain from the past few days. In fact, heavy showers were also witnessed over the region during this time. The last 24 hours were also of no difference and intense showers were recorded over the Karnataka capital.

The relentless rains have wreaked havoc in Bengaluru, such an extent that these downpours had claimed lives of six people on Friday evening. Rains from the past two months have made 2017 the wettest year for Bengaluru. The cyber city has already recorded 1703.5 mm which is the highest in decades.

Within a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Bengaluru recorded rains to the tune of 41 mm.

During the similar time frame, other areas of Karnataka also recorded good spells of rain including Karwar 44 mm, Honnavar 37 mm, Gadag 29 mm, Chitradurga 29 mm, Madikeri 17 mm, Mangaluru 15 mm, Hassan 10 mm and Mandya 8 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, now rains are likely to lessen over Bengaluru, however moderate rains will continue over the garden city for at least 24 to 48 hours.

Meanwhile, light to moderate showers will continue to batter south interior parts of Karnataka. Isolated spells are also anticipated over north interior districts of the region.

The reason behind these showers can be attributed to an upper air trough that is extending from east central Arabian Sea up to Southwest Bay of Bengal. This weather system is incessantly inducing moisture content over the region.

Hence, morning and evenings will remain pleasant, with humid days and cool nights. Maximum temperatures will settle around 27-28 degrees; weathermen expect the day maximums to escalate further. On the other hand, minimums will remain near 19-21 degrees. Cloudy sky conditions are also possible.

Till date in the month of October, Bengaluru has already recorded 385.8 mm of rains as against its monthly average rainfall mean of 168.3 mm. This clearly shows that the city has already surpassed its monthly mean that too with a huge difference.
