The 2 major Railway Stations in Chennai Metro city, the Central and the Egmore Railways stations were inundated with teeming crowds set for travelling to their places to celebrate the national and the most important Deepavali festival.

The passengers were allowed in only after individual thorough check whether they were carrying any firecrackers.

As the reservations got filled within minutes of opening, there were uncontrollable crowds for the unreserved compartments, especially for the trains bound for Tamil Nadu Southern districts.

Even the passengers who came 4 hours earlier than the scheduled departure could manage to get seats. There were very long crowds waiting to get in the unreserved compartments of the Pandiyan Express and Malaikkottai Express.

The passengers put up a demand that additional numbers of unreserved coaches should be attached to these trains.
