The Supreme Court has ordered that oxygen cylinders must be kept in all the coaches for emergency medical aid as a life-saving avenue.

A case about the existing facilities for the train passengers had been taken up for enquiry.

When taking up this enquiry, the judges told that the services of the senior doctors from AIIMS must be used for helping during emergencies.

When replying to the judges, the Railways Department informed that it may not be possible to form a medical team or setting up medical equipment in the trains.

Subsequently, the judges came up with the order that in order to provide first aid to the passengers affected, all trains must keep oxygen cylinders and the arrangements to treat the patient must be taken at the next immediate railway station.
