Rapid rise in water level of Chennai reservoirs

With the persistent heavy rain in the Chennai and suburban areas, the good news is that there has been a rapid increase in the levels of the major water reservoirs supplying water to the city.

The Northeast monsoon rainy season is in full swing throughout the state of Tamil Nadu. There has been a phenomenal 16.6 cm rainfall recorded in Chembarambakkam. With this, the capacity of the Chembarambakkam water reservoir has gone up by 150 million cft.

The capacity, which was 308 million cft yesterday (Monday, 30th October) has gone up to 452 cft today (Tuesday, 31st October).

In a similar trend, the capacity in the other major Chennai Metro water reservoir, Puzhal, has also gone up from 150 million cft yesterday to 487 million cft.
