There may be power cuts during heavy rain. or water may be cut. or, you may not be in a position to leave the house. So, whenever you have time or a chance, do take these preventive actions: (not intended to create panic or hoard items – just to do it according to your affordability just to prevent some mishaps)
- Buy and keep sufficient stock of items like biscuits, milk, milk-powder, emergency tablets, water cans, battery cells, candles, some ready-mix food item, and vegetables.
- Recharge your cell phones when electricity is available.
- Use the cell phones only for emergency. Do not use for listening to music, watching videos or Facebook.
- When there is a power-cut, use your UPS or inverter in the best economical way.
- Unless you have an emergency work, do not walk over the stagnated rain waters.
- As there may be an emergency, the residents of ground-floor should take advanced action to locate and shift to a higher level.
- Keep umbrellas and raincoats ready.
- Those using tap water may better boil it and use.
- Some transport facilities like train and bus services may be cancelled. So, avoid going out unless there is an emergency.
- Those who can afford – please help the affected people or neigbours.
- Drivers of 2 wheelers and 2 wheelers – please note – if the floodwater is even half-a-feet, it has enough force to carry your vehicle – so, take care.
