Chennai rains have been lashing the capital city for quite some time now. The last 24 hours have been quite rainy for the city of Chennai and a whopping 183 mm of showers have been recorded. Not only this, due to these hefty showers, localized flooding has also been observed in many parts of the city leaving Chennai in a crippled state.
Schools and colleges have been closed for the fourth consecutive day. Not only this, IT companies have also been asked to declare a holiday and tell their employees to work from home.
The reason for the non-stop rainfall over the capital city of Tamil Nadu can be attributed to the low-pressure area which is over Sri Lanka and adjoining Coast. This system is expected to persist over the area and weaken gradually.
As per weathermen, heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Chennai and its adjoining areas for at least two to three days.
