TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) is the authority to recruit personnel for the various vacancies in the state government departments and it recruits through a written test for most posts.

Grade-wise tests are conducted for the vacancies of different posts and designations.

Accordingly, until now, separate tests were conducted for the recruitment of Group-4 vacancies and VAOs (Village Administration Officers).

However, TNPSC has now taken a decision to combine these 2 separate written examinations into a common single examination for both Group-4 vacancies and VAOs.

TNPSC informed that the arrangements have been made for candidates to choose their preferred posts. TNPSC further informed that there is an expenditure of Rs. 15 Crores for conducting the 2 different written examinations each as per the recent practice.

Also, TNPSC further mentioned that it has noted that around 60% of the candidates who apply for the posts of VAO do apply for Group-4 posts as well.  As the selections are done as per the performance in 10th Standard, TNPSC has decided to combine the written examination into one single written examination for Group-4 and VAOs. The new single written test is known as ‘CCSE-IV’.
