Sri Sabarimala temple corridors to be opened today for Mandala Pooja

The corridors of the Sabarimala temple will be opened during this evening (Wednesday, 15th November). The security level has been strengthened this year as compared to the usual level
The period of the 41 days starting from the 1st of the Tamil/Kerala calendar month Karthigai is known as a ‘Mandala’ period. In Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Calendar month of Karthigai is scheduled to start on 17th November.
The 41 days’ daily pooja performed from the 1st of Karthigai is known as Mandala Pooja. In Kerala, the calendar month of Karthigai starts a day earlier on 16th November. So, the Mandala Pooja for 41 days starts from 16th November (Thursday). To perform the Mandala Pooja, the temple corridors are scheduled to open today at 5.00 PM (Wednesday, 15th November).
As the central government has warned about the possibilities of terrorist attacks, the security level has been beefed up.
An additional 2000 police personnel are to be deployed for beefing up the security.
In the 1st Phase, the state government Kerala State Transport Corporation has organised to run 300 special buses.
