The central government has informed that it is planning to incorporate some changes in the format of the Civil Services Examination.

UPSC (The Union Public Service Commission) undertakes the responsibility of conducting the Civil Services Examination meant for senior official posts such as IAS and IPS,

The Civil Services examinations are conducted in 2 stages – Preliminary and Main. The successful candidates then have to attend an interview after which the final list of successful candidates is announced and then training is given. After completing the training, they are posted in the IAS and IPS cadre.

In this scenario, the Paswan Committee has recommended to UPSC during August 2016 that changes must be incorporated in the format of the Civil Services Examinations and also some change in the age limit aspect.

UPSC scrutinized the Paswan Committee recommendations and after a thorough review, it submitted its recommendation report to the central government in March 2017.

Subsequently, the central government has now informed that it is reviewing the reports of the Paswan Committee and UPSC in this regard to change the Civil Services Examination format and the age limit.

It is expected that an official announcement in this regard will be released shortly.
