Mini buses for chennai city

After a two-year delay, has decided to procure 100 minibuses to cater to the many passengers from the interior parts of the city who do not have proper access to a railway station or bus stand. Metropolitan Transport Corporation said to the officials. We have started receiving enquiries from a few companies that had been supplying buses for MTC. Hopefully, we would finali­se the supplier within a month after the deadline (December 22) draws to a close,” informed sources in the government told DC Monday, adding that the tender was floated a few weeks ago. The buses will be designed for a service life of at least 10 years or 90 lakh km whichever is later in the case of MTC.

Officials added that buses would have the seating capacity of 27 passengers. “The IRT will firm up the rates for chassis or the buses and hand it over to MTC that would take a final call on whether to purchase only chassis and build the body on its own or buy the bus itself.the present government confirms it where  the government, bowing to persistent demands from the residents of several parts of the city, announced in the Assembly that 100 minibuses would be introduced by MTC to cover the remote areas.
