Chennai Rains to begin again November 26 onward

Chennai rains have once again come on the backseat as dry weather conditions have taken the driver’s seat for some time. In fact, only light rainfall has been witnessed over the region in the past few days. Since November 14, good Chennai rains have not been seen over the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

The last 24 hours were also similar, and both the observatories of Chennai did not even record a drop of rain. These weather conditions can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over the region.

However, the city of Chennai is all set to receive good rains soon enough. These rainfall activities will be attributed to the presence of a low pressure which is currently over Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. This system will move in a westerly direction towards Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka coast. Thus, moisture incursion will increase over the state of Tamil Nadu causing rains over Chennai.

During the next two days, the weather will remain dry over Chennai. However, November 26 onward, in view of the weather systems, Chennai rains will begin and are likely to stay for a while. The intensity of rains will vary due to the movement of the weather system.

On November 26 and 27, rains will remain light over the city with isolated moderate spells on Nov 27. However, rains will increase thereafter, and light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy spells are expected over the city on November 28 and 29.

Rains will once again be light in nature between November 30 and December 2. However, another moderate to heavy spell of rainfall is expected between December 3 and 4. Thus, these Chennai rains are here to stay for a long time now.
