Northeast Monsoon lashed the state of Tamil Nadu with hefty showers during the initial days of November. Fortunately this time Sri Lanka will bear the brunt of this low-pressure area and most parts of Tamil Nadu will escape the flood fury.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rains are likely to increase over many coastal districts of Tamil Nadu from November 26 and the southern districts such as Atiramapttinam, Nagapattinam, Tondi, Karaikal, Tuticorin, and Kanyakumari may receive heavy to very heavy until November 27.

Whereas, Puducherry and Cuddalore may record light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. Chennai city will escape the heavy downpour this time and only light to moderate rains with one or two short spells of intense showers may occur over the city between November 26 and 28.

By November 29, we expect the weather system to move away and hence rains will reduce significantly over most parts of Tamil Nadu. Good rains will remain confined to the southern and coastal parts of the state.

Whereas the interior districts such as Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, and Vellore will receive only scattered light rains with isolated moderate showers. The temperatures are likely to fall by 3°C to 5°C over the coastal and southern parts and by 2°C to 3°C over the interior parts making the weather comfortable.
