The Indian Meteorological Bureau has informed that the new cyclone Ockhi has formed over the Kanyakumari area. The very low-pressure zone has formed and is situated 170 km Southwest of Kanyakumari. There are strong prospects of the depression zone getting transformed into a cyclone.
Due to this cyclone, winds may blow at 167 kmph to 200 kmph. It is also announced that there are strong prospects of this transforming into a very severe cyclone.
The Indian Meteorological Research Centre has estimated that due to the formation of the cyclonic depression, there are prospects of very heavy rain in South Tamil Nadu in the next 36 hours.
There have been widespread rains recently in several districts of Tamil Nadu.Rain has been persistent in the districts of Nellai, Kanyakumari, and Thoothkudi.
Due to the cyclonic formation, the No 1 Cyclone Warning Cone has been set up in the Ennore Port.
