  • Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and isolated extremely heavy falls (>20 cm) very likely over north Lakshadweep Islands during next 24 hours and isolated heavy to very heavy falls during subsequent 24 hours. Isolated heavy to very rainfall is very likely over south Lakshadweep Islands during next 24 hours - IMD

  • Rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Kerala during next 24 hours - IMD

  • Weathermen expect rains are likely to once again pick up pace by December 6 in wake of the well-marked low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Strait of Malacca that is likely to intensify into a depression and move towards Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Heavy rains will be seen over the region by December 7. - skymet weather

  • Meenambakkam observatory in Chennai saw a mere 0.4 mm of rainfall, while no rains were seen at the Nungambakkam observatory. Rains will once again pick up pace by December 5 - skymet weather

  • Very severe cyclonic storm Ockhi will continue to batter Lakshadweep Islands with torrential rains. It is still persisting over Lakshadweep and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea. Meanwhile, rains would reduce further in Kerala and TamilNadu. - skymet weather

  • Lakshadweep Islands are expected to witness incessant rains along with strong gusty winds. Along with torrential showers, squally winds at a speed of 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph are expected to lash the chain of Islands: skymet weather

  • These heavy to extremely heavy rains are expected to continue for at least another 24 hours. Due to strong storm surge, low lying areas may even get flooded. As the sea area is likely to remain rough, fishermen are advised to stay away from the coast and not to venture into the sea.
