All the devotees prefer to buy the world-famous laddus when they visit Tirupathi for the Darshan of the Lord Venkateswara.
For the devotees of the Dharma Dashan cadre, presently, 2 laddus on subsidised price, and 2 more laddus on additional price ( a total of 4 laddus) are offered.
For the devotees under the Divya Darshan cadre, 2 laddus under subsidised rates 2 more laddus at an additional price, and 1 free laddu- a total of 5 laddus – are offered.
For the devotees under the quick Darshan token system, 2 free laddus per ticket, and additional 2 laddus for a total of 4 laddus are offered by the TTD (Thirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam Board).
For the VIPs, Higher officials, and the devotees with recommendation letters, laddus are being offered daily – these are not offered to the common devotees.
As the production of cost has increased in a large way, TTD has decided to double the price of additional laddus from today, Friday, 22nd December.
Accordingly, the ordinary laddu price is up from Rs. 25 to Rs. 50. The price of Kalyana Utsava laddu is up from Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 and the price of vada are up from Rs. 25 to Rs. 100.
However, no changes have been in the price of laddus offered to the devotees.
TTD has informed that it costs Rs. 37 to produce the smaller size laddus, Rs. 150 for the larger size laddus, and Rs. 80 to make vadas.
It is a surprise that TTD has come out with the price increase of laddus as a sudden announcement without any prior indications.
