Low Pressure forms in Bay, rain likely in parts of Tamil Nadu

Tropical storm Kai Tak has wreaked enough havoc over many parts of Philippines right before Storm Tembin caused way more devastation over the islands of the Philippines. While Tembin continues to roar and is expecting to hit Vietnam, Kai Tak weakened quite quickly and lay as a cyclonic circulation over the Malay Peninsula.

Now, under the influence of the circulation, a low-pressure area has formed in the Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. This weather system is likely to maintain its strength and result in a few moderate to heavy spells of rainfall over southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours. However, the northern parts will see rains of much lesser intensity.

Isolated rainfall activity is also expected to occur over central and southern parts of Tamil Nadu during the next two days. These rains will be light in nature and will occur between intervals. However, the city of Chennai will witness dry weather conditions.

The system may move towards the northwest direction near Odisha due to which rainfall activity is expected over the states of Odisha, North Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh around December 31. In fact, the possibility of the East Coast witnessing a rainy New Year cannot be ruled out as well.
