Plans to run 500 private buses in Chennai Metro City

In order to counter the ongoing strike by the State Transport Corporation employees, 500 private buses are operated in Chennai today (Saturday, 6th January).
The secretary of the All omnibus owners and Operators Association, A, Anbazhagan, informed that the public has been put to great hardships because of the ongoing strike by the employees of the state transport corporations.
The state government of Tamil Nadu has insisted that private buses must be operated in the feasible areas in the city. Accordingly, 100 private buses were operated from areas such as Koyambedu and Avadi.
As today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) are holidays, 500 private buses owned by private agencies are being operated on these 2 days.
