New currency notes of denomination Re.1 introduced again (after 23 years)

The new currency notes of Re. 1 are back into circulation In Tamil Nadu after quite a long gap of 23 years.

The new Re. 1 currency note most resembles the old one. But these new notes are in dark pink and green colours.

This new Re. 1 currency note carries the signature of the secretary of the central department of finance, Chandrakant Das. On the bottom right-side of the note, the serial numbers are printed. The year of printing of the note is printed on the backside of the note.

The printing of the currency notes of denomination Re. 1 was stopped in the year 1994. After this, only Re. 1 coins were in circulation. Gradually, the old notes of Re. 1 disappeared from circulation. Now, after a gap of 23 years, they have come back in circulation.

The new Re. 1 currency notes have come into circulation throughout Tamil Nadu including the Chennai Metro City.
