Final Voters list being released today (10th Jan)

The final voters list is being released today in Tamil Nadu. The activity of including all the new voters who attained 18 years of age as on 1st January 2018 was taken up and completed. This activity was taken up on 3rd October last year. The draft voters list was also released on this day.
As per the draft voters list, among the total Tamil Nadu population of 79378485, there were 59588002 voters.
Out of this, 29484492 are men. 39826800 are women. 5242 are other genders. Following the release of this draft, correction activities of the voters` list were taken up.
The correction activities were completed by 31st October. But, the approval to extend the completion date up to 4th December was obtained from the Election Commission.
In this situation, the Election Commission appointed 10 IAS officers to oversee the correction activities, These 10 IAS officers issued the necessary orders regarding addition/deletion/correction of names in the voters` list. This task was completed and subsequently, the final voters` list is being released today (Wednesday, 10th January).
The list is being released by the respective commissioners in the corporation (administered cities), and the respective district collectors in the districts.
