The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy, has assured that the pending pension payments of Rs. 750 Crore due to the employees who worked in the transport corporations until 30th November 2017 and retired will be made before the oncoming Pongal festival.
The Chief Minister read a report under the Rule No. 110 today (Wednesday, 10th January) and informed:
“I am delighted to announce in this assembly that the total pending pension payment of Rs. 750 Crores due to the pensioners who worked in the state transport corporations and completed their service as on 30th November 2017. And I assure that this will be paid before the ensuing Pongal festival.
Along with this amount to be paid, the Tamil Nadu State Government has so far paid an additional Rs. 2147.39 Crores for the retired life benefits of the pensioners.
In the above circumstances, with most of their demands having been accepted, I appeal to the transport corporation employees to withdraw their strike immediately and join duty immediately.”
