Paal Payasam is also called as Rice Puddign or Milk Kheer. It is a very popular dessert in south India. You cannot think of a special family occasion or traditional celebration without the dessert. Cooking this is absolutely easy and simple. Kids love the recipe for its flavor and taste.
Required ingredients:
Milk – 1.5 litres
Cooked Rice – 500 grams
Sugar – 250 gm
Ghee – 2 tablespoons
Cashew nuts – few
Raisins – few
Cardamom powder - ¼ tablespoon
Procedure:
Step 1 – take a heavy-bottomed pan and boil milk in a medium flame
Step 2 – once it comes to a boil, reduce the fame and reduce the milk by half
Step 3 – now, add rice and allow it to get cooked for about 15 minutes. Keep stirring intermittently
Step 4 – Once the rice gets well cooked in the milk, add sugar and stir it to dissolve
Step 5 – now, you can observe the Payasam getting thickened. At this stage, add cardamom powder and mix
Step 4 – take a separate pan and fry cashew nuts and raisins in ghee. Add this to the Payasam, and you’re done
This dessert can be served either hot or cold.
