Schools play an important role in the lives of students is well known. It must be noted that in some places in the state of Tamil Nadu the dropouts from the schools is on the rise when compared to other places.
The news is three government funded residential schools would be built in places such as Villupuram (Kallakurichi), Nagapattinam (Mayiladuthurai) and Dharmapuri (Pennagaram) as the dropout is very high in these three places when compared to other places. It is said that the union education ministry has given its approval in this regard.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is a programme sponsored by the government for the primary education is known. Now a senior official from the above shared his thoughts and said residential school facility located in Valparai, Coimbatore would also be expanded. It must be noted that these projects are mainly for the sake of students preventing them from dropping out of the schools.
According to the government based records it is now revealed that in the year 2017 alone there were as many as 34200 OOSC or out of school children. One more point to be noted here is out of this 34200 half of the kids belong to age between 11 and 14 and it is a shocking.
It is now brought out that out of 32 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu Villupuram district has got 2400 Out of School Children (OOSC). It is now said that the students who join the schools leave schools to go and work in brick kilns and in the months of June and July the demand for these kid increases. This is because of the fact that workers belonging to other states come back to Tamil Nadu after November only.
Kallakurichi block is present in Eduthavainatham and at this place full time residential school would soon be constructed because in this place the dropouts from the schools are very high especially students belonging to Scheduled Caste.
For the sake of students belonging to Narikuravar community and for seasonal migrants, residential schools at Nagapattinam and Dharmapuri would be constructed. Across the state of TN there are as many as 8 such full time facilities now available and Rs 6.5 crores has been sanctioned for maintaining these.
It is now said that special training is being given for 21900 kids identified as OOSC out of a total of 34200 OOSC and this training is being given at the 980 non-residential and residential training centres. An amount of Rs 18 crores is being spent for the purpose.
