Pongal is not just a harvest festival, it’s an emotion that runs deep within. The feeling that entails change, perhaps a positive outlook towards the start the new year chalked with activities. The Pre- pongal celebration is always a hit with the employees of Zebronics but what’s more visibly seen is that pure moments of bliss when there is a gift of giving of an experience or gifting new clothes to the children from the orphanages or spending that quality time listening to wisdom from the elders at the old age home.
The in house celebration for the employees of Zebronics was to get their hands dirty for a rangoli contest apart from that, the extended joy was seen in every face who celebrated making memories with the orphanage children at Namadhu Illam Orphanage, Ambattur and the elders at the Aruwe Old age home.
A day`s trip was organized for the orphanage children at the B.M. Birla Planetarium at Periyar Science and Technology Centre and the Anna Centenary Library. While a few employees visited the old age home to make the harvest festival memorable for the elders; the kids on the other end were in for an edutainment experience of a lifetime.
At the old age home, a few women were donned in bright sarees, some looking gleeful at the brimming pot and the decorations while the employees at Zebronics were busy cooking and serving up a good dollop of Pongal glazed with ghee. After a hearty meal, around they gathered for round of music, dance and karaoke with Mr. Rajesh Doshi. Goodie bags were given to the elders, you could easily spot the smiles as they saw new sarees.
While the children from the orphanage were in for a bliss with the planetarium experience, this being their first time to an edutainment center, Kamesh, a 9 year old said ‘The stars looked as if they we’re so close to us, it felt so real’ expressing his interest in science he said “I learnt more about mars and how it looked” he added .Apart from the the planetarium, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the 3D experience, the informative museum and the park. After a heavy lunch with the director everyone was overjoyed receiving goodie bags with new clothes and still had the enthusiasm to their next destination which was the Anna Centenary Library. The children were busy as they flipped pages of their favorite book and carrying memorable experience as pongal celebrations ended on a good note.
Mr. Rajesh Doshi, Director at Zebronics said “Pongal is more than a festival to me, it’s all about starting the new year with enthusiasm and we at Zebronics always start our new year by making memories and uplifting the spirits of the children from the orphanage and the elders from the old age home.
