The state government of Tamil Nadu has come up with a sensational and unexpected order to increase the bus fares in all government operated buses.
It is also announced that this increase in bus fares would be effective from tomorrow - Saturday, 20th January.
The details of the increase in bus fares:
- Ordinary bus fare metro buses – minimum fare up from Rs. 5 to Rs. 6
- Express bus fares in the city up from Rs. 17 to Rs. 24
- Deluxe bus fares minimum increased from Rs. 21 to Rs. 30
- Super deluxe bus fares increased from Rs. 21 to Rs. 33.
- Bypass Rider (Exterior road – 30 km) bus fares – increased from Rs.18 to Rs. 27.
- Chennai Metro Bus fare – Maximum increased from Rs. 12 to Rs. 19.
- The minimum bus fares (except in Chennai Metro city) increased to Rs. 5, Maximum increased to Rs. 19.
- Volvo bus fares increased from Rs. 33 to Rs. 51.
- Air-conditioned bus fares –minimum Rs. 25, Maximum – Rs. 150.
- Ordinary mountain buses fares increased from Rs. 4 to Rs 6 + additional fare of 20%.
- Express buses running up the mountains - fares increased from 20 to Rs. 24 + additional fare of 20%.
The above bus fare revisions will come into effect from tomorrow – Saturday, 20th January. The bus fare increase would be applicable to the private buses as well.
