New Rules will be updated for the School Swimming Pools

Over 90 schools situated in Chennai city has swimming pools for sports activities. The new laws, Rules and regulations are to be framed for the safety of the users. At Once the state government gives approval the law will be on the act. These precautionary laws were taken on account by State administration because of a 9 yr old boy’s death in PSBB School in K.K.Nagar before 4 months.  

New Rules and regulations by law

There are certain restrictions are to be implemented by the local schools which have pools and they are as following as

·         Under the new regulations, diving will not be permitted in school pools. Any schools that have this facility will be asked to remove it.

·          The maximum permissible depth will now be 5.5 feet.

·         Safety jackets are to be bought by the schools authorities.

·         The maximum size a pool can be is now 50 metres long and 25 metres wide.

·         The minimum size, under the regulations, will be 10 metres by 6 metres. The other two permissible dimensions are: 25m by 16m and 15m by 10m.

Chennai metropolitan development authority, fire and rescue services and other agencies were involved in the framing of the above rules and regulations. These restrictions are not only for schools but also for the other swimming pools were frequent children’s movements are involved.
