Chennai weather has remained mostly dry and warm for a long time now. In fact, the entire month of January has not been rainy barring two days when the capital city of Tamil Nadu recorded very light rains. Since then, Chennai has remained dry as a bone.

As far as the temperatures are concerned, the maximum in Chennai settled at 28.9 degrees Celsius which is a notch below the normal levels. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.8 degrees Celsius which is normal for the city.

The reason for no rainfall activity has been attributed to the absence of any weather system over the region. The average rains for the city of Chennai during the month of January are 29 mm. However, after the passage of 21 days, the city has witnessed a mere 2.2 mm of rainfall.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, no active weather system is likely to develop in proximity over Chennai for the next few days. Thus, weather will remain dry over the city. Talking about temperatures, there is no change which is expected over Chennai which is why the days will remain slightly on the warmer side and nights will remain comfortable.
