Recently bus fares were increased in Tamil Nadu is known. The news now is interstate buses operating between Puducherry and Tamil Nadu has been revised from the 22nd of January 2018.
Minister of transport, Mr. Shahjahan, shared his thoughts regarding this and said Puducherry has not increased the prices of tickets but has revised only. He also spoke about how the revisions in ticket rates could not be avoided as neighbouring TN State has increased the rates of tickets for the passengers. It is worthy to note that an agreement was signed between TN and Puducherry.
It is now said that the ticket prices on the Puduchery – Chennai AC bus is now Rs 305 and it has been raised from the earlier rate of Rs 200. Similarly the ticket rate for Puducherry- Tirupati express bus is now Rs 230 and it was earlier Rs 170.
It was in the month of October in 2017 government of Puducherry raised the ticket fares in the buses but later due to widespread protests it was forced to roll back.
One important piece of information is Puducherry Road Transport Corporation plies as many as 84 buses totally and along the interstate routes 54 buses are operated. Private operator plies total of 220 buses and 100 buses in the interstate routes are operated for the passenger sake.
