The bus fares of the state transport corporation buses were increased last week. As per this, the bus fares in the Chennai Metro Transport Corporation have been revised - a maximum of Rs. 35 in Express buses, a maximum of Rs. 48 in deluxe buses, and a minimum of Rs. 25 to a maximum of Rs. 125 in the air-conditioned buses.
Thus, the fares in the Chennai Metro buses have almost reached the fares of Chennai Metro Rail. So, there has been a spurt of increase in the number of Chennai Metro rail passengers by 40% to 50%.
An official of CMRL explained that after the recent upward revision in the Chennai Metro bus fares, there has been an increase in the number of Metro rail passengers by 30% to 50%. The administration has been taking further initiatives to attract more passengers. CMRL has commenced conducting Art (painting/drawing) fairs, sales exhibitions, rural art/culture programmes, music programmes, and food fairs.
Music festival
A 3-days Music festival is being organised from today (Republic Daye, Friday, 26th January) at the Chennai Metro Rail stations Vadapalani, Alandur, and Thirumangalam. The music programmes are scheduled to be conducted from 5.30 PM to 9.00 PM.
It is expected that thousands of passengers will attend, participate, and enjoy the above programmes.
