K. Surya Kumar of age 19 is the talk of the town now. The news is this young man from the city of Coimbatore is the only golf player from this place and just second from the state of TN to represent India in the 12th Faldo series Asia grand finale in Vietnam. This would be held in the month of March 2018 and the tournament would have many under- 21 golf players showcasing their talent.
It is superb to note that Chennai based Shiv Narain Srinivas would also be making his presence felt along with 20 other amateur golfers in Vietnam.
This Tatabad resident Surya Kumar expressed his delight in this and spoke about how he is so excited to take part in the grand finals. Surya Kumar also threw light on how from the age of just seven he has been involved in golf and how he always wanted to become a professional golfer. Being his first international event he wants to do very well now.
It must be noted that at the age of just 15 this Surya Kumar grabbed the attention of many when he was placed second in the all-India junior championships. He has been travelling all over India and taking part in many golf tournaments. In the amateur category he is ranked 23rd now.
PSG Arts and Science College in Coimbatore must feel happy and proud that its student Surya Kumar has been sensational in this golf. According to Surya Kumar, winning this tournament in Vietnam would do lot of good for him as the Indian Golf Union would send him to take part in the golf matches at the international level. He spoke about his aim of becoming one of the top five golf players in India. This B.com student has dedicated himself to this golf sport and his hard work is now paying off.
Coach Ranadeep Moitra is playing huge role in the development of this 19 year old Surya Kumar as the coach keeps control on the diet as well as the fitness regime of Surya Kumar.
It is usually difficult to maintain a balance between education and playing games as most players would not be able to cope up with both simultaneously. This Surya Kumar doesn’t have this problem now.
Steven Guliano the popular golfer from Malaysia has been doing his bit in coaching this Surya Kumar and Surya Kumar visits Malaysia for a period of 3 weeks in a year for the purpose of training. Best wishes to Surya Kumar!!
