Chennai division of southern railways earn Rs 2 crores more now

Recently people belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu were shocked because of the sudden increase in bus fares. As a result of this increase the people who travel by buses shifted to trains as they found it better and cheaper than the buses.

The latest news that has emerged is over 5 lakh people shifted from buses to trains and this has led to the Chennai division of southern railways to collect Rs 2.14 crore more revenue than in the past.

It is now said that 7393154 passengers had travelled with non season train tickets between 21st January 2018 and 31st January 2018. This was more the previous year when as many as 6886743 passengers travelled by the trains in the above mentioned dates.

According to the data from southern railways it is confirmed that Chennai division has earned as much as Rs 1.93 crores more from the increases sale of non- season tickets.

Season tickets to travel in the trains were bought by as many as 624700 passengers and they have produced revenue Rs 2.53 crores for the Chennai division. This amount is Rs 21.44 lakh more that what this Chennai division of southern railways got in the previous year. People now travel in the 23 suburban special trains in Chennai.
