Chennai city is famous for its beaches and many people visit beaches like Marina and Elliots in Chennai to relax with their family and friends. It is also known that garbage gets collected here in these beaches.
The superb news is Greater Chennai Corporation would soon buy and use as many as eight retrofitted tractors so that garbage present in the above mentioned popular beaches would be removed.
It must be noted that these 8 tractors cost Rs 9.94 crores and Greater Chennai Corporation has called for bids to buy 8 tractors.
Under the beach beautification programme, the tourism department of TN State has granted funds and it is now clear that these funds would be used to procure machines attached with and pulled by tractors. The above was now confirmed by an official from Chennai Corporation.
It must not be forgotten that in Marina Beach, two tractors are already in use by civic body to remove spoons and tiny waste particles etc. The mechanical malfunctions in these two tractors are creating problems now. It is important to mention that these two tractors were bought by using Chennai corporation funds.
It is now said that for 5 years the potential supplier would have to operate and maintain the machines. Power from the tractors would be use to run the sieve like machinery that would be fitted to the tractors. An official shared his thoughts regarding this and said the presence of conveyor is important as it would sieve beach sand and finally separate fine particles from it.
Marina Beach in Chennai would have as many as 5 machines whereas Besant Nagar based Elliot’s Beach would have three machines.
According to the latest information total garbage collected on holidays in the Marina Beach would be up to 5 tons and it is now said that on weekdays three tons of garbage is getting collected at Marina Beach
