Getting recognition for their contributions is what every person desire and awards and trophies play great role in this regard. One such award is this ‘Kalaimamani’ award for excellence in the fields of literature and art. In the year 1954 this award was first given is known.
It is well known that this ‘Kalaimamani’ award was not given to any person in the last seven years but the good news is this would change soon.
It is now brought out that this amazing award in the state of TN would be started once again and this was confirmed on Tuesday 13th February by the state minister for culture and Tamil language Mr Mafoi K. Pandiarajan at an award distribution event.
Minister Mafoi Pandiarajan expressed his thoughts and said a formal announcement in this re-launching of this superb Kalaimamani award would soon be made by chief minister of TN Mr. E. Palaniswamy.
He further hinted that many other schemes for the growth and development of Tamil language would soon be making its presence felt and these schemes would be announced by the chief minister in the future.
Minister Mafoi. Pandiarajan explained the importance of this award and said former chief minister Dr Jayalalitha won this ‘Kalaimamani’ award as her first award. He also cleared that as many as 300 individuals would be given this award once the award gets launched again.
It is worthy to mention that there are many schemes for the development of Tamil language and these schemes includes restoration of uniqueness of Tamil University plus developing music and fine arts university, developing ancient Tamil culture centre at Madurai etc.
The minister also spoke about the installation of ‘Tamil Annai’ statue and that would be fantastic.
The minister Mafoi Pandiarajan threw light on the presence of as many as 25 departments present in the Tamil University currently and said more departments would soon be added to that.
Rejuvenation of ‘Sthala Virucham’ or holy trees belonging to as many as 30,000 temples to create ‘Nandhavanams’ would also be done in the future.
One superb piece of information is with the view to make Tamil language spoken by maximum number of people as their second and third language “Tamil Valar Maiyyam” would be built and this would be similar to the popular “Hindi Prachar Sabha”. This was also confirmed by the minister.
Awards such as Kalai Ilamani, Kalai Valarmani plus Kalai Sudarmani, Kalai Nanmani and Kalai Mudumani were given to five artists for the years 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.
