All the problems faced during the implementation of online registration have been solved and now the trend of online property registration has picked up quite swiftly.

A new software system, ‘STAR 2.0’, was installed for the online registration mainly in order to avoid the malpractices, bribery, and corruption prevailing in the department of registration in Tamil Nadu.

The online system was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy on 12th February.

On the very next day, the new online registration system was implemented throughout the state.

As some server problem was encountered on the 1st day, only 610 registrations were completed in the combined 575 registrar offices.

However, the various problems encountered were rectified fast in the next day.

In this system, a facility has been provided for the public to compile all the required documents, check and verify them before sending to the registrar.

Even if the documents had been prepared by the deed-writers or advocates, these can also be sent and checked and corrected.

On the 1st 3 days after the online service implementation, 13557 documents were sent for scrutiny/check and out of that, 11680 documents were approved. On these 3 days, covering all the 9 registration zones, only 8017 documents were registered online. However, on the subsequent days, this trend changed and there is a daily increase in the number of online registration.

On 17th February, 5330 registrations were completed in 575 registrar offices. The day-before-yesterday (Monday, 19th February), this has increased to 6928 registrations. In this also, the Chennai region stands 1st. Among the 63 offices located in the Chennai Metro City, 1245 registrations have been done. In Madurai Region, 1179 registrations have been done in 102 offices and this has secured the 2nd place.

Actually, the public, watching and experiencing that online registration has been done during the last week without any bribes to anyone, hugely appreciate the new online system.

Generally, there are 6000 to 8000 registrations in a single day throughout the state. On the auspicious wedding days, this may touch 10000. Presently, since the introduction of the online registration system, within a week, the number of registrations has touched 7000 per day. This confirms the system is in progress without any problems and operates smoothly.
