It is known that a 36 km elevated corridor project from Chennai airport and Chengalpet would be constructed.
The latest news regarding this is the NHAI or National Highway Authority of India has said that commencement of this project would be carried out in a phased manner in this financial year from Tambaram to Chengalpet toll plaza.
Recently a study review committee meeting took place in that meeting final feasibility report made by the consultant CDM. Smith was discussed. In this meeting the above mentioned matter regarding the proposed corridor project was also spoken and it attracted the attention of many there.
There are still some doubts in the number of lanes between Chennai Tambaram and Chengalpet and is not yet decided.
It is important to mention here that the consultant submitted a detailed report for the development of elevated corridor from Chennai airport to Chengalpet along the NH 45.
The important piece of information that needs to be mentioned is the travel time between Chennai airport and Chengalpet toll plaza or Paranur would be reduced by hour and ten minutes. Estimation of the cost of the project from Chennai airport to Tambaram- Irumbuliyur junction has been asked from the consultant now. One important point to note here is the cost estimate would not include the amount for junction development at Irumbuliyur.
