Chennai Meteorological Centre - be ready for a scorching summer

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has warned that this summer will be a scorching one unprecedented in the last 30 years or more.

It is a general routing over the last 30 years to report regarding the weather conditions in the months of March-May before the onset of the monsoon rainy season.

Accordingly, the Chennai Meteorological centre has estimated that the intensity of the summer heat in the March-May months of this year will be higher by 5 degrees Celsius as compared to the usual/average.

The intensity of heat has been rising in the Tamil Nadu coastal areas such as Chennai and Nagapattinam.

The officials explained that this may persist till mid-April.

The intensity of summer heat will be higher in the cities of Madurai and Thiruthani. The maximum temperature may reach 37 Degrees Celsius.

In the Chennai Metro city, it is already quite hot in the afternoon sessions making it difficult to stay inside the house. It requires the fans to be running. The phenomenon of perspiring has started occurring even during the nights. So, the situation where the people are forced to come out for fresh air has already started.
