This famous Pandian street subway in Chennai is not maintained well and is a problem for the public

Chennai is a big city with many people is well known. Many places in Chennai hog the limelight due of some activities taking place in that place or due to some issues in that place.

Now the popular Pandian Street subway in South Chennai is making news for wrong reasons. It must be noted that this subway provides access to the famous Meenambakkam railway station for those people coming from places such as Nanganallur, Thirusulam, Pallavaram etc.

It is now said that this pedestrian and vehicular subway is not maintained well plus it is not accessible. It is worthy to mention that this subway is used by bus travellers and metro rail travellers going to Chennai airport and St Thomas Mount.

The walls and ceilings in this subway have been creating issues now. The water leaking through the walls and ceilings here leads to stagnation of water and it results in mosquitoes. Presence of food as well as vegetable waste left by the street vendors is also creating issues here as it causes unhygienic situation.

Mr Sudarshan a resident of Meenambakkam expressed his views and said he was not happy. He also spoke about how public spitting over the walls has been creating problems for those commuters who walk. On the side of the subway garbage gets dumped regularly and this has resulted in bad smell making it unbearable for the public to use the subway.

A resident named Deepa belonging to Moovarasampet confirmed that this subway also has also got liquor bottles all over the place and she threw light on how plus public use drainage openings as a place to urinate thereby adding more problems.

According to the officials of State Highways this subway is cleaned periodically and broken lamps were also replaced by new ones after they received many complaints from the people.
