A 3 years ban on sales has been imposed by the state government of Tamil Nadu for any attempts to sell the Amma Scooters obtained on the subsidized scheme. A seal has been fixed on RC book accordingly.
Amma Scooters are given under the special scheme by the state government for the working women with a subsidy of Rs. 25000.
Any brand of 2-wheelers can be procured under this scheme with state government subsidy. The vehicle should be manufactured this year and should be of 125 capacity without any gear facility.
In a government order, it is informed that these scooters cannot be sold for the 1st 3 years after purchase.
The vehicle cannot be sold within 3 years without permission/approval from the Director of the of the Tamil Nadu State Government’s Department of Rural Lifeline Scheme and subsidized scooter scheme.
In a step to confirm this, a seal has been placed on the RC Book of the 2-wheeler sold under this subsidized scheme that ‘this vehicle, bought under the Amma Scooter subsidy Scheme, cannot be sold for 3 years and the licence cannot be transferred to anyone during this 3 years.’
