It is known that the state government has converted the regular plus one examination into board examinations beginning from this year onwards. The main purpose of this is to help the students prepare for NEET and JEE exams that has got more than 50 per cent of questions from the plus 1.
It is interesting to note that after a huge gap of four decades over 8.63 lakh students of plus one would be writing the public examinations from Wednesday, 7th March 2018.
One important point is these plus one exams would take place at the same centres where plus two examinations are held.
Earlier there were many complaints that students belonging to TN state were not doing well in the entrance examinations because of the omission of the plus- one subjects in some private schools.
It must be noted that from 7070 schools as many as 816915 students belonging to plus one would be taking public examinations. Total number of girls who would be writing their plus- one exams are 460,406 and total number of boys are 401,509.
It is now clear that as many as 58,897 more girls would be taking their plus-one public examinations today when compared to the boys. In science stream over 5.28 lakh students would be writing their examinations.
It is amazing to mention here that 62 prisoners from Puzhal central prison would also be taking their plus-one examinations. Those schools which indulge in malpractices would be in for huge trouble as their recognitions would be cancelled and this was confirmed by none other than DGE.
It is important to note that the total examination duration would be of two and half hours, total marks would be 600 and individual subject marks would be 100.
School education department have done a great job in reducing the burden of the students because previously total marks was 1200 and individual subject marks was 200 with exam duration of 3 hours.
