The Public Examinations for the 10th Standard students is scheduled to start tomorrow (Friday, 16th March) in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
10 Lakhs students are writing this. 3560 examination centres have been set up in Tamil Nadu. 48 examination centres have been set up in Puducherry.
This year, an additional 237 examination centres have been set up as compared to the last year in order to ensure that they are located in the nearest convenient areas for the students.
101096 candidates from 10000 schools are writing the 10th Standard Public Examinations. 5 candidates are transgenders. 502465 girls are writing this. 3659 differently-abled candidates are also writing this. An extra-hour has been allotted exclusively for them.
Though the examination on the subject of Tamil is compulsory for this 10th Standard Public Examinations, 8303 students have been allowed to write the examinations in their mother tongues. The 9 languages allowed are Telugu, Kannada, Urdu, Malayalam, Arabic, Hindi, and Sanskrit.
A special monitoring squad of 6000 has been set up. 6402 department officials and 94880 teachers are deployed in the examinations. The results are to be announced on 23rd May.
A 12-hour functioning Control Room has been exclusively set up to clarify the doubts of the 10th Standard students.
This control room will function from the headquarters of the Department of Examinations in Chennai.

The Director of the Examination Board has announced that the control room will function from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM commencing from tomorrow (Friday, 16th March) and concluding on 20th April.
