AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has announced that it has reduced the admissions by 50% in some faculties.
10300 Engineering/technology colleges are functioning throughout the country under AICTE. The number of maximum admissions for each faculty is fixed. In this, the admissions for engineering courses in certain faculties in private engineering/technology colleges have been less than 30%.
In these colleges, the faculties of engineering where there has been less than 30% admissions over the last 5 years have been closed and it was announced that the new admissions for these faculties will be stopped in the academic year 2018-19.
In this situation, it has been now announced the number of admissions will be reduced by 50% whereas there are no plans to close these faculties.
