The recent fare hike noted a dramatic drop in number of commuters using the MTC (Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses as a mode of transport in and around the city. A whopping amount of 30% decrease in commuters in last two months startled the MTC immediately leading to the decision of re-introducing the Rs 1000 and Monthly Season passes. There are some minor changes in the fare subjected to sudden downfall of the MTC income, aiming to regain the old commuters.

After the increase in fate of MTC modes, People adapted their travel route through other less costly means especially trains and share autos. The main blow was when MTC stopped the daily passes and now the public demand the Rs 50 scheme back with or without any revisions in the fare.

The daily passes are very useful for daily wage Laborers and Students travelling to their respective institutions.

According to the MTC Officials the daily passes were misused by commuters through multiple usages of different people with the same ticket. MTC wanted to add more features to the ticketing model to improve the identification of the sole traveler buying the Rs 50 passes.
