Metro trains for every two and half minutes once Chennai Central metro station starts functioning

People travelling by metro would surely feel delighted with this news. The latest news that has emerged now is trains would be operated at a frequency of every two and half minutes when the metro station at Chennai Central opens next month. It is now said that the metro rail is gearing up to meet more number of passengers who are using metro trains.

According to a metro official many office goers who arrive at Moore Market Complex, Park or Park Town would be benefitted by this move. He further spoke about how the increase in the frequency of metro trains would be done based on the response once Central metro station is opened.

He then threw light on how more people would be using metro trains once Central metro station is opened. It must be noted that waiting time for the passengers at the station would be reduced by increasing the train frequency from 20 minutes to 5 minutes during the non-peak hours.

Passengers would feel very happy that they could travel from Central metro station till airport via Shenoy Nagar as Chennai Metro Rail Limited or CMRL would extend its direct services.

It is well known that metro rail is operating a direct service for every 30 minutes between Nehru Park and the airport. Peak hour traffic is seen from 8:30 am in the morning till 10:30 am and then from 5pm till 8:30 pm. Soon Koyambedu, CMBT and Vadapalani metro stations would be linked by this station.

It is worthy to mention here that the upper track level leading to Egmore and Nehru Park would be opened in May 2018 and lower track level would connect Anna Salai and it would start functioning in this year end.

It must not be forgotten that in the month of February in 2018 metro rail grabbed the attention of many when it increased the frequency during the peak hours from 10 minutes to 7 minutes for the trains travelling between Shenoy Nagar and St Thomas Mount. The revised schedule is between Monday and Saturday. From the other line trains continue to go between Little Mount and airport is known.

After conducting a traffic survey a new timetable came into force. According to the survey it was found that maximum office goers travel between the places like Shenoy Nagar and St Thomas Mount in corridor 2. In the existing operational lines Shenoy Nagar to St Thomas Mount and Little Mount and airport the trains are operated every 20 minutes during the non-peak hours.
