3 Successive holidays for all ration shops

All the ration shops in the state of Tamil Nadu will remain closed for 3 days from Friday (13th April) to Sunday (15th April).

As a routine, the ration shops in the state have holidays on the 1st and 2nd Fridays of the month. Instead of these Fridays, the ration shops will function on the subsequent Sundays.

Further, public holidays have been declared by the state government for 10 days in this year including Pongal and the Tamil New year Day.

Accordingly, the weekly holiday for the ration shops fall on Friday (13th April). The subsequent Saturday is the Tamil New Year Day and Dr. Ambedkar’s birthday. So, the hops will remain closed. Also, the shops will not work on the subsequent Sunday (15th April) as well.

An official from the Food Department of the state government explained:

‘As the 1st day of this Year’s April month fell on a Sunday, the ration shops were kept open on 1st April. The shops worked on the next Sunday on 8th April. So, the shops will not function on the 3rd sunday, 15th April.

So, the ration shops will have 3 successive holidays from 13th to 15th April.
