Doing something for the first time is always special and would be spoken in high esteem.
It is now said that for the first time ICF in Chennai would be making coaches for Sri Lanka and this has grabbed many eyeballs
In the month of May 2018, ICF or Integral Coach Factory in Chennai would begin the work of constructing 70 coaches for the neighbouring nation. In just few weeks of time the shelling works would start and this was confirmed by an official.
This official later spoke about how the requirements prescribed by Sri Lanka are being considered now. He also explained how the topography was similar and the ergonomics of the coach would not be different. Quality of the coaches is very important and this was emphasised by the neighbouring country. It is known that Linke Hofmann Busch or LHB coaches are being built at ICF in Chennai.
It is revealed that the coaches that would be built for Sri Lanka would be better than these LHB coaches.
In the month of June or in July revolutionary T18 coaches would be rolled out and it is now clear that these 70 coaches for Sri Lanka would not be of the same quality as that of T 18 coaches. This was also confirmed by few officials.
A supervisor at the LHB factory spoke about how as per the schedule the work on the first set of 16 T18 coaches are going on now. The first ever T 18 coach is the idea of the general manager. Wielding works are now going on and furnishing and fitting it with wheels would be done later.
The officials do not know about the cost of this flagship coach. Presence of drive and disk brakes would make these T 18 coaches superb.
Established in the year 1952, ICF is owned by Indian railways is known. In the fiscal year 2017-18 this ICF made many heads turn when it created record production of 2503 coaches. In the fiscal year 2018-19 ICF has got plans to produce as many as 3000 coaches and if that happens then Chennai based ICF would be sensational.
