Muslim groups in Tamil Nadu have filed a petition to ban actor Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’ after protests that the film ‘targets Muslims and their beliefs’. Following this, the film which was slated to be released tomorrow has been banned State-wide.

Mr. Haasan, who is also the film’s director, has said he will take legal action against the ban. In an official press release he said, ‘While I am touched by the voices in support for me and my film, I am appalled at how my film is construed to be against my Muslim brothers. I am not only hurt by these accusations of denigrating a community but my sensibilities are truly insulted. Icon bashing is a great way to be noticed when you are not one yourself. It is happening again and again. Any neutral and patriotic Muslim will surely feel pride on seeing my film.’
