Soon in Tamil Nadu, smart classes would be present in government schools

On Friday, 1st of June 2018, chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. E. Palaniswami became cynosure of many eyes. He announced that smart classes would be set up in the government elementary and middle schools. He then spoke about how the government would set up as many as 2283 smart classes in the government schools in the state of TN and how an amount of Rs 42.92 crores would be spent for this purpose.  

The chief minister then revealed that in 2448 high schools and higher secondary schools in TN, drinking water facilities would be established and an amount of Rs 48.96 crores would be spent for this. He later highlighted that teachers would be given special training so that they could adapt to the new curriculum. Teachers would be taught about the advantages of National Teacher Portal and how to upload modules to it. In each of the 32 districts in TN one model school would be set up and amount of Rs 50 lakh would be spent on the infrastructure. Amount of Rs 60 crores has been allotted by the government for this project. At a cost of Rs 11.25 crores skill charts would be provided for all the students in government and government aided schools. This chart could be linked to aadhaar and would have various new elements.

One important piece of information is all the constituent colleges would be upgraded to government arts and sciences colleges. For this an amount of Rs 152.20 crores would be spent.

Along with the existing 1232 subjects, 264 more new subjects would be introduced from the academic year 2018-19 onwards. There would be as many as 683 new vacancies for assistant professors post in the colleges. An amount of Rs 62.75 crores would be spent for building 324 classrooms plus 50 laboratories etc. New hostels would be built and these hostels would accommodate atleast 150 students per college in government engineering colleges present at places like Bargur, vellore, Salem, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli etc. An amount of Rs 37 crores would be spent for this sake of constructing new hostels and it would be superb.
