There are 3500 seats available for joining the course of B. Arch. (Bachelor of Architecture) in 50 colleges of architecture in Tamil Nadu. Out of this, counselling is conducted by Anna University on the single-window system for the government quota seats. However, in order to qualify for this counselling, the candidates need to pass the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Indian Architectural Council.
NATA for this year was conducted on 29th April throughout the country. 49390 candidates had registered. The results were released on 6th June. 69% candidates have passed. This is 19% lesser as compared to the performance in the previous year. In the state-wise success percentage, Goa secures the 1st place with 84%. In Tamil Nadu, 5623 candidates wrote NATA and 3364 (60%) candidates have passed. There are 2267 seats as the government quota in the colleges affiliated to Anna University. These seats will be filled by the 3364 successful candidates based on the rank/merit list.
The counselling for this year is scheduled to be conducted in July.
Though the counselling mode has switched over from the single-window system to online mode for the other engineering colleges, it has been decided to conduct the counselling session for B. Arch, continuing with the single-window counselling system, So, the candidates have to visit Chennai and attend the counselling in person. However, the registration for counselling will be done online.
The Higher Education circles of the Anna University inform that the official announcement on this will be issued shortly by Anna University.
