‘use synthetic leather instead of hurting animals’ said peta outside the venue of the 18th international leather goods fair that is taking place in t. nagar.

An official press release said, ‘the leather industry ignored even the most basic animal protection laws. Cows, buffaloes and other animals used for leather in India were often crammed into transport vehicles in such large numbers that their bones break. Besides, runoff from leather tanneries poisoned rivers and streams and had also been linked to cancer, respiratory infections and other illnesses in humans.’
