The Director of the Tamil Nadu Law Education, Santhoshkumar, has announced that the Chennai Government Law College, presently located adjacent to the Chennai High Court Complex, will be shifted to the new buildings located in the districts of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram from 9th July.
As per the recommendations of the Justice Shanmugam enquiry commission’s recommendations and the order given by the Chennai High Court, The Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, presently located in Chennai, is being shifted.
New Law College buildings with hostel facilities have been constructed at a cost of 117.78 Crores at 2 places – Pudhupakkam lying adjacent to Thiruporur in Kanchipuram district and Pattarai Perumbudur in Thiruvallur district.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, E Palanisamy, inaugurated the new buildings on 2nd July. Subsequently, a government order was issued to shift the location of the existing government law college to the new premises.
Accordingly, the government law college will now be shifted to the new premises and start functioning from 9th July. The classes for the students studying the 5-year course in the Law College will be shifted to Pudhupakkam and the classes for the students studying the 3-year course and LLM will be shifted to Pattarai Perumbudur.
