Prospects of reduction in Arasu Cable TV charges?

The officials of the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation have informed that it may not be possible to reduce the present monthly charges for this service to the residential customers. In a recent development, the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV operators’ Federation had submitted a request. In this, they had demanded that the monthly charges for the TV channels services must be reduced. Also, landline cable connections must be provided to the various Taluks and interruption-free signal provisions must be made apart from other demands.

In this regard, the officials of the Tamil Nadu Arasu TV Corporation explained that while commencing the Arasu Cable TV services on the analogue mode, it was with reasonably lower charges of Rs. 70 as monthly charges for providing 100 channels. With the recent changeover to the digital mode, the monthly charges were revised as Rs. 150 for 200 channels and Rs. 210 for 400 channels.With this. When GST is added to Rs. 120, it becomes Rs. 150. This, in fact. Is rather lower. As any revision is under the state government jurisdiction, the monthly charges cannot be changed.
